The Fraser Group Joins RBG

George Fraser, head of The Fraser Group at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, and Fraser Group advisers, Frederic Amberg and Troy Haugen, are joining LPL’s Retirement Benefits Group (RBG).

RBG is launching a new participant education program, called “Passion for the Participant.” Fraser will be responsible for overseeing this division.

The Fraser Group has been with MSSB since 2006 and consulted on $300 million in retirement plan assets held in 35 retirement plans. Fraser and Amberg will continue to operate from their offices in Scottsdale, Arizona, while Haugen will service RBG’s clients in the Pacific Northwest from its Portland, Oregon office.

Over the years, Fraser has received much attention for his highly interactive participant education approach (see “Beneath the Surface” for more on his philosophy).

LPL Financial expanded its retirement plan adviser services in 2010 when it acquired National Retirement Partners (see “NRP to Be New Division of LPL”).

“For many years, George, Fred, Troy and their staff have been among the industry leaders in high quality participant education services,” said Larry Deatherage, Principal of RBG, which consults on more than $5 billion in retirement plan assets. “They have built a phenomenal reputation for excellence and creativity when working with employees and their families. After their extensive search and due diligence process, we are delighted they have selected RBG as their new home.”
