The markets reached new heights in 2021, with findings from the 2022 PLANADVISER Defined Contribution Investment Only Survey showing continued growth in the defined contribution market as well. Overall, total DCIO assets among the 33 responding organizations increased by 8%. In terms of organizational performance, only five of those asset managers saw DCIO assets decline last year, while, for almost 45%—i.e., 15—assets increased by 15% or more. Consistent with recent industry trends, the DCIO segment saw a record amount of assets invested in passive/blend strategies and a consolidation of business—the median number of recordkeeper selling agreements rose to 50 from 47 last year. —PA
