Securian Offers Participant Education To Eliminate Debt

Securian Retirement is offering a plan participant education program focused on helping participants reduce debt and boost retirement savings.

Target audiences for the “Money Management Today for Retirement Tomorrow” campaign are employees of companies that offer a Securian retirement plan as an employee benefit. According to a press release, the materials offer a strategy for creating a budget, reducing debt, and finding the money to boost retirement savings.

The Money Management program includes brochures, on-site seminars, Web-based education, and a variety of tools. The materials start with an assessment of the person’s financial status and move on through budgeting and an explanation of the 401(k) plan, the release said.

Trust Builders Releases Distribution Strategy for Retirement Income

Trust Builders, Inc., provider of educational solutions for retirement planning, made available a distribution strategy utilizing tax management to extend retirement income.

According to a press release, the Tax Wise Distribution Strategy maximizes the advantage of the tax basis of each individual account. It reduces taxes and helps a participant determine how to both distribute income in retirement and accumulate assets for the planned distribution, the company said.

The distribution method is based on a client’s marginal tax bracket, as well as on the client’s allocation between pre-tax (e.g. 401(k)) and after tax (e.g. Roth) monies.
