Participants are willing to ‘spend’ money to get free money from their employer.

The 2020 PLANSPONSOR Participant Survey shows that, if plan participants are given a choice between two benefit options, typically they are about evenly split between those. However, the finding does show a slight preference among participants for guarantees.
The online questionnaire was completed this past September by 1,163 individuals, ages 23 and older, 220 of whom were unemployed.
