SSgA Offers Crash Course in ETFs

A new education program from State Street Global Advisers (SSgA) offers financial professionals nearly 30 short courses on how to incorporate exchange-traded funds (ETFs) into investment portfolios.
Reported by John Manganaro

The 28 courses included in SSgA’s “SPDR ETF Ed U” program are designed to be completed in less than 10 minutes each while conveying essential information about the much-talked-about investment vehicles, the firm says. The program also includes a short self-assessment for advisers, which can be used to develop a more personalized training regimen.

The program is arranged in six modules that cover such questions topics as “The Basics,” “ETF Uses” and “Evaluating ETFs.” Two of the modules—“How to Evaluate ETFs” and “ETF Myths and Truths”—can be used to satisfy continuing education credit requirements included in some industry certifications.

Advisers must designate their interest in earning continuing education credits while completing the program, the firm explains. They must also score a 70% or better on mastery tests included in the program to earn credits.

More information on the ETF education program is available here.
