O’Connor Moves to MSSB

Ed O’Connor has joined Morgan Stanley Smith Barney as managing director and the head of Retirement Services.

In this role, O’Connor will oversee Small Business (personal and branch-based business retirement), led by Linda Ward; the Corporate Retirement team, led by Gene Silverman; and Retirement Sales, led by Peter Prunty.  Corporate and Small Business Retirement Services were previously led by Rochelle Silverstrom, who departed earlier this year.

O’Connor, who began his role August 16 in Purchase, New York, reports to Jim McCarthy, managing director, head of Retirement Services & Client Advisory Center.

O’Connor was previously head of Institutional Consulting and Corporate Retirement Services at UBS (see “Ed O’Connor“). Prior to UBS, he was senior vice president of Product Management for the retail broker/dealer unit at JP Morgan Chase & Co.  He began his financial services career at Merrill Lynch where he worked in Product Finance and Retirement and College Savings units.
