Nationwide Names New Retirement Plan Leader

Nationwide Chief Executive Steve Rasmussen announced that the leaders for the company’s retirement plans business and its property and casualty direct channel will switch roles.

Larry Hilsheimer will lead Nationwide Retirement Plans, and Anne Arvia will lead Nationwide Direct, Affinity and Growth Solutions. Hilsheimer has been named president and chief operating officer of Nationwide Retirement Plans, and he will retain oversight of Nationwide Bank.

“My philosophy is that fresh leadership perspective and successful ideas from one area of the company will lead to benefits in another,” Rasmussen said.

Hilsheimer joined Nationwide as executive vice president and chief financial officer in 2007, coming from Deloitte & Touche USA LLP, where he served as partner, vice chairman and regional managing partner. He has experience on the boards of several community organizations, including Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Battelle for Kids, the Columbus Downtown Development Corporation and The Ohio State University Alumni Association.

The changes are effective immediately. Hilsheimer will report to Kirt Walker, president and chief operating officer of Nationwide Financial Services.
