Mercer Names Benefits Admin Leader

Sandy McCarthy has been named benefits administration leader at Mercer.

McCarthy joined Mercer in 2009 as retirement business leader for its U.S. benefits administration business. Most recently, as a global client manager, she led and drove strategic initiatives, and built innovative solutions to support the benefits needs of large, multinational clients. From 2010 until 2012, McCarthy was based in Melbourne as Mercer’s benefits administration business leader for Asia Pacific, where she led a workforce of 1,400 colleagues representing 450 clients and 1.2 million members. Mercer says McCarthy achieved significant improvements in growth, profitability, and client service quality in the Asia Pacific region.

McCarthy has more than 30 years of executive and international business experience. Before joining Mercer, she was the president of ING (now Voya) institutional plan services, where she was responsible for benefits administration services for government and large corporate clients. McCarthy was also a member of the founding executive team of CitiStreet, serving as president and member of the board of directors at the time of its acquisition by ING. Prior to CitiStreet, she held senior executive positions at financial services institutions including State Street Global Advisors and Fidelity Investments. She began her career with Bank of America.
