Janus Names New Head of Institutional Business

Janus Capital Group Inc. has announced that Daniel P. Charles, vice president of institutional sales, has been promoted to managing director of the company’s institutional business.

In this role Charles will report to Janus CEO Gary Black and oversee all aspects of Janus’ institutional products, sales, client services and consultant relations, the announcement said.

Charles joined Janus in 2005 and was previously responsible for developing new business opportunities with large corporations, foundations, and endowments in the Midwest. Before joining Janus, he spent more than three years with Bank of America, most recently as managing director and national head of sales for Bank of America Institutional Investment Solutions.

Charles was also previously with ING and Aetna Financial Services overseeing their sales and client services operations in San Francisco, Chicago, and New York.
