CFA Institute Appoints Managing Directors

CFA Institute appointed Thomas Robinson as managing director of Americas operations, and John Bowman and Stephen Horan as managing directors of education.

Robinson has worked with CFA Institute for six years, most recently serving as managing director of education. CFA Institute recently established the Americas region, which will include Canada, the United States, the Caribbean and Latin America.

Robinson has a background in education and investment management, having worked as an associate professor and director at the University of Miami and an independent financial adviser and tax consultant. In addition to a CFA charter, Robinson holds Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designations.

Robinson earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and a master of accountancy degree and doctorate of accounting from Case Western Reserve University.

Bowman and Horan, both holding CFA charters, will join the leadership team as managing directors of education. They will provide strategic leadership for educational content and examinations, and educational programs and program relationships.

Bowman will be responsible for CFA, CIPM and Claritas program leadership, regulator and program recognition, university relations, scholarship programs, regional education initiatives and special projects. He most recently served as the head of the Claritas Investment Certificate program for CFA Institute, and has analyst and investment management experience with State Street Global Advisors, Mellon Growth Advisors and Zacks Investment Research.

Horan will lead curriculum development, examination development, publications, candidate products, exam administration and security, and the CFA Institute Research Foundation. Prior to his role as the head of university relations and private wealth, Horan served as a professor of finance at St. Bonaventure University, a principal of Alesco Advisors and a forensic economist in a private practice. 

LGIMA Announces Four New Hires

Legal & General Investment Management America Inc. (LGIMA), a Chicago-based registered investment adviser, hired Don Andrews, Kimberlee Lisella, Justin Tabellione and Bradley S. Wynn.

Andrews joins as a solutions strategist in LGIMA’s liability-driven investments (LDI) team and will report to Gary Veerman, head of strategy. He will focus on the development and structuring of customized investment solutions. Andrews was formerly a director at UBS Investment Bank in the structured solutions group, where he was responsible for developing tailored risk transfer, capital, funding and liquidity solutions in derivatives, and structured finance technology.

Lisella has more than a decade in asset management, and will serve as senior client portfolio manager and assistant head of distribution. Most recently, Lisella was director in the customized strategies group of Cutwater Asset Management, where she led the development of customized investment solutions, with a focus on pension funds and insurance companies.

Tabellione, who will take on the role of senior portfolio manager, has more than 14 years in investment management. He will manage active fixed-income strategies for U.S. pension clients. His experience includes formulating investment strategies in a total return environment. He was, most recently, senior fixed-income portfolio manager at UBS Global Asset Management.

Wynn joins LGIMA as a senior client relationship manager focusing on active fixed income and LDI clients, and will report to Chris Wittemann, senior client relationship manager. His 20 years’ experience in institutional fixed income includes work with pension plans, insurance companies and leveraged clients. Wynn was an executive director at Morgan Stanley and most recently served as head of the Chicago credit sales desk.
