PLANADVISER: Tell us about your role at your firm and how you contribute to its growth and progress.
Crawford: As a relationship manager, I collaborate directly with two partners to serve their client base. I am the primary point of contact for more than 50 clients, who collectively have more than 25,000 participants and assets exceeding $2.7 billion. My responsibilities include:
- Developing and presenting data at client and prospect meetings;
- Writing meeting minutes and following up on action items;
- Vendor management;
- Leading various internal and external projects; and
- Networking to prospect for new business.
Clients trust and rely on me for quick and accurate information, enabling the partners to focus on acquiring new business. Additionally, I actively seek new business opportunities by participating in several organizations and continuously making new connections. I have also spearheaded multiple internal projects, developing 12 workflows to enhance team effectiveness and streamline operations.
PLANADVISER: How did you end up in the retirement advisory industry?
Crawford: I studied business administration with a concentration in investments at Towson University, driven by my passion for financial markets. I have always enjoyed educating others and found this path to be a way to share my knowledge while helping people. Upon learning about registered investment advisers and their legal obligation to act as fiduciaries, I knew that was the environment I wanted to be part of. After researching Greenspring and discovering their commitment to transparency, their sound investment philosophy and their dedication to giving back, I knew I had found the right fit. Initially, I applied for a position with the institutional team without fully understanding what it entailed. Now I am incredibly fortunate to work with such a fantastic group, providing sound financial advice to companies, both big and small, and their participants across the country.
PLANADVISER: What are you most passionate about outside of the office?
Crawford: I am most passionate about living my life to the fullest in all facets—physically, spiritually and emotionally. I especially enjoy being outside, with skiing, hiking, biking and golf my favorite hobbies. I am also very passionate about giving back. I mentor at my alma mater, Towson University, and was recently appointed as a board member for the university’s Young Alumni Advisory Council. Additionally, I volunteer at local churches, food banks and nonprofit farms whenever I can. Lastly, maintaining strong relationships is vital to me, and I make a deliberate effort to stay connected with family and friends, even when we’re across the country from each other.
