Mutual of Omaha Appoints 401(k) Sales Director

Mutual of Omaha Retirement Plans Division appointed Seth Friedman as 401(k) national sales director.

The company also expanded its reach in the Midwest adding two new retirement plan wholesalers, Mark Jewett and Dan Runser.  

“Seth, Mark and Dan are proven financial sales managers who understand advisers’ needs in order to be successful in the retirement plans industry,” said Scott Herchenbach, senior vice president of Retirement Plans at Mutual of Omaha. “They are part of a strategic initiative to put top talent in positions that will help us enhance our 401(k) product line while rapidly growing our sales in the coming years.”

Friedman most recently served as national sales director of Mutual of Omaha’s registered retirement products. Prior to that, he served in numerous financial services leadership positions at Nationwide Financial Services, Jackson National Life, Allstate Financial and Essex Corporation.  

Friedman received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts.  

Jewett has been with Mutual of Omaha since 1978, with most of his career focused on the pension marketplace. He most recently supported the company’s Agency distribution as a 401(k) Agency Channel Manager.   

Jewett received his bachelor’s degree from Drake University.  

Runser has more than 15 years experience selling 401(k), 457 and defined benefit plans. Prior to Mutual of Omaha, he served as a pension wholesaler at AXA Equitable and Smith Barney Plan Services. Runser was also an agent/broker for Prudential prior to becoming a wholesaler.  

Runser received his bachelor’s degree from Wittenberg University and his MBA from DePaul University. He is a Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant.
