PLANSPONSOR Retirement Professional Designation

PLANSPONSOR, a division of Strategic Insight, is relaunching its PLANSPONSOR Retirement Professional (PRP) designation for elite sales and service professionals who specialize in the retirement plan space. Lapsed designees are being given a special opportunity to recertify and come back into compliance, and new classes will be forming for the fall and winter.

Introduced in 2005, the PLANSPONSOR Retirement Professional, or PRP, industry designation is designed to create a standard of industry excellence for financial professionals who sell and service retirement programs. By earning the PRP designation, retirement professionals not only demonstrate their commitment to the industry, but enjoy the benefits of an exclusive, ongoing support network through PLANSPONSOR and PLANADVISER.

To earn and maintain the PRP designation, a candidate must complete the initial coursework, attend a three-day on-site training program and pass a final examination. Thereafter, the PRP must submit continuing education credits annually. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate an acceptable level of professional experience and business ethics.

The curriculum has been updated to reflect current industry challenges, regulations and best practices and to integrate proprietary research from across all Strategic Insight brands. Retirement Learning Center (RLC) will provide technical support in development and implementation of the PRP. RLC President John Carl serves as an executive consultant to the PLANSPONSOR Institute, at the direction of Alison Cooke Mintzer, editor-in-chief of PLANSPONSOR and PLANADVISER.
